Labor forgets local community by not delivering
on Reid Highway/Mirrabooka Avenue overpass
The Rudd Labor Government has turned its back on the local community, by failing to fund an overpass at the Mirrabooka Avenue and Reid Highway intersection.
The unsuccessful Labor candidate, on behalf of an elected Rudd Government, promised consideration of the Mirrabooka Avenue and Reid Highway overpass project.
Hundreds of local families have already signed my online petition to see this overpass built and during the last election campaign I secured $20 million to fund the Mirrabooka Avenue and Alexander Drive overpasses at Reid Highway.
I will continue to fight for this important project, which will save lives.
The Rudd Labor Government must commit to road safety at Reid Highway, with a new overpass at Mirrabooka Avenue which is at the top of the list of Perth’s black spots.
I have consistently asked for funding to start work on this important project. The Rudd Labor Government says it is committed to spending on infrastructure and the Mirrabooka Avenue overpass should be at the top of the list.
WA Labor said in 2004 and again in 2005 that Mirrabooka Avenue was the worst black spot in Western Australia and promised to do something about it.
I think they should just get on with the job and construct this overpass for the community. People don’t want excuses and they don’t want delays – they want to see this important road safety project get underway.
Labor’s lack of action is a disgrace – and I won’t stop fighting to make our local roads safer. I will continue to push for the Mirrabooka Avenue overpass at Reid Highway because there is only one outcome that is acceptable and that is to get this vital road safety project BUILT.
Please complete my online petition to keep up the pressure on the Rudd Labor Government.
