Federal Member for Stirling Michael Keenan has welcomed a funding boost for surf life savers in Trigg to purchase a specialised off-road trailer to transport vital safety and training equipment.
The project was joint-funded by a $3,125 grant under the Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Programme, Trigg Island Surf Life Saving Club and the North Beach Lions Club.
Mr Keenan recently met with volunteer surf life savers and said it’s great to see the multi-functional trailer already being utilised.
“It’s vitally important we invest in water safety equipment to ensure our volunteer surf life savers can perform their duties to the best of their ability,” Mr Keenan said.
“This funding ensures essential lifesaving equipment can be easily transported across one of Perth’s most popular sections of coastline.”
The trailer will also be used for storing and transporting equipment for educational programs and events.
Since 2013, the Coalition Government has invested $18 million in ongoing water safety activities by Surf Life Saving Australia, Royal Life Saving Society Australia, AUSTSWIM and Laurie Lawrence Swimming Enterprises.
These include awareness campaigns, policy advice, surf lifesaving activities, surf patrols, swimming lessons, and education and training.
