Recently I was pleased to announce the Stirling Men’s Shed in Balcatta has received Federal Government funding of $20,000 to assist in the construction of an outdoor kitchen and seating area for its members.
The project will see a concrete pad installed at the back of the premises along with a pergola, seating area and basic cooking facilities, enabling members to come together for a meal following regular Shed activities.
It is well known that Men’s Sheds are incredibly valuable to communities, increasing self-esteem and social cohesion amongst men and providing them with opportunities to participate in hands-on local projects including this one.
The Stirling Men’s Shed also has a local shop where items created during workshops are available for sale with funds raised reinvested back into Shed operations. There are some great items on offer and I encourage residents to take a look by visiting the Shed during opening hours. To find out more please visit www.stirling.wa.gov.au/mensshed.
